The title of our current online exhibition combines two terms generally considered contradictory. Chesed is helping those in need. Purchasing Art is purchasing a luxury item, oftentimes not representing a need. However, as the Rambam states, "The greatest level (of tsedakah)...is to support (the needy) ...in order to strengthen his hand so that he will not need to be dependent upon others . . " Because of today's pandemic, the gallery and the artists are in great need.
