Iconic Clothespin Homage to Keith Haring - Anonymous

Homage to Keith Haring

The artist’s clothespin series is an exploration and contemplation of the Holy vs. the Mundane. The unique shape depicted in the works is the result of a deliberate distortion of the conventional clothespin’s shape. The clothespin, comprised of two seemingly separate yet complimentary parts is a tool of adjoining, in contrast to a pair of scissors whose objective is to separate. The two parts become one; similar to divine love which compel husband and wife, two complimentary individuals, to devote themselves to one another and to create a new eternal whole. As the Rabbis state, “…if they merit, the Divine Presence shall dwell among them”.

Belief and Philosophy are at the core of his artistry and his creative force. The artist interweaves his religious belief throughout his works using his vast and in-depth understanding of the relationship between history and art. His work is an aesthetic process borrowed from the arsenal of history and visual language – from Renaissance to contemporary art: pop icons, 20th century art and current art trends, where art has detached itself from spirituality and started promoting individuality as an ideal by process of theoretical, ideological, and formal deconstruction. Facing this, the artist's aim is to divert from these notions and infuse art with Divine values, kinship, affinity, and internal abundance, inserting the Holy into the Mundane thereby raising common values to renewed heights.
